GRID20/20 deploys at Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro

“2015 Smart Grid Product of the Year” To Accelerate Power Restoration

Toronto, Ontario — GRID20/20®, Inc., a leading Distribution Transformer Monitoring (DTM) intra-grid sensor provider released information concerning its ongoing project efforts with Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro (CND) in Ontario Canada.

The demonstration project has now expanded to forty (40) patented sensor devices strategically located within the CND service territory.

Alan Snook, President of GRID20/20 commented, “The team at Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro logged unprecedented installation speed with our RF Mesh enabled devices. Now we will fine tune the deployment to provide added outage notification data which will enable power restoration to be achieved more rapidly for customers.”

As part of the Ontario Ministry of Energy’s Smart Grid Fund, this segment of the GRID20/20 demonstration project is now posturing for value delivery to CND. In addition to outage notification support data, the deployment is expected to provide a series of value propositions. With their strong focus on customer service, the CND team will gain increased grid supervision data via the GRID202/20 OptaNODE® DTM intra-grid sensors.

“We are excited about the opportunities that we expect will result from this demonstration project, including delivering improved services to our customers, increased intelligence, better reliability and quicker restoration times”, said Ian Miles, President and CEO at Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro.

GRID20/20 recently became a “2015 Smart Grid Product of the Year” award recipient extending its recognition as the leading intra-grid sensor provider.

Snook further stated, “GRID20/20 continues to focus on serious challenges being faced by electric utilities around the globe. With our patented sensors, Best In Class devices, and our versatile solution offering, we expect to come alongside many more utilities to help remedy their existing and emerging problems, and enhance their distribution grid management efforts.”

GRID20/20 provides its OptaNODE® DTM intra-grid sensor suite to leverage the strategic value of data captured at distribution transformers. The heart of the grid remains the most volatile and expansive component of the distribution space, and GRID20/20 provides timely, accurate data to monitor and act upon problematic intra-grid conditions. Needed services such as enhanced outage notification, transformer asset health monitoring, preventive maintenance awareness, detection of renewable resources being added to the grid, and unmetered power loss identification represents a portion of the benefits addressed by the GRID20/20 solution.

The demonstration project occurring at CND will continue through November 2015.

GRID20/20 has been participating in both trial and deployment activities around the globe. Three participating utilities are located within Ontario, Canada; two of which are partially sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Energy’s Smart Grid Fund initiative.

The company’s engineering corps is located in Toronto, its manufacturing and primary consulting services are based in Ontario, and its corporate offices are located in Richmond, VA USA. Through its unique product line, and market approach, GRID20/20 has logged initial deployment activity within six (6) countries, and expects more international installations in the coming months. GRID20/20 has now successfully reported more than 20 million otherwise unobtainable intra-grid data reads to its growing list of utility customers.
